A transcription of a conversation or speech is a written text of it, based on a recording or notes. (Transcription).

Scripta manent (Latin proverb). Transcription converts audio material in a form that not only can be used again, but for different purposes as well. You detect and focus on specific parts of it, you revise its content, structure and syntax, and you even use it for instructional reasons.
