About The Language Lab

My name is Anna Argyropoulou and I have been teaching English for the past 23 years. I am a graduate of English Language and Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a holder of a Master’s degree in TESOL by the Hellenic Open University of Patras.  I have extensive professional experience both in the public and private sector, having taught students of all level and whose goal has been a certification in the foreign language. Due to the extensive teaching of different levels and multiple textbooks, as well as the study of many sources, what I have gained in depth of time is a thorough knowledge of the conventions and conditions that regulate the language. These deal with not only the most apparent part, vocabulary, but also its idiomatic expressions, terminology of different fields (e.g. sciences, printed and online means, websites, communication, and so on), its grammar and structure of texts – written and audio- and many more.

This intensive preoccupation of mine with the language and my impulsion to evolve professionally have impelled me to view the discipline of the English language from a different perspective and have formed my incentive towards my new venture, that of translation. I decided to expand my business horizons and followed a translation course in a private school.  

Concurrently to this, I attended editing and proofreading and subtitling seminars, terminology masterclasses as well as courses on the use of computer assisted translation tools and their corresponding certifications.  

In a very short time span, I managed to contract my first collaborations as a translator and have been working as a freelance, external partner with several companies abroad.
